"Puranda" is the ancient name of a more than 3000 year old settlement in the Aegean region of Turkey, in the location of present day Torbali - where our olive trees grow.

On the rocky slopes of the Aegean region, ideal soil conditions, a gentle breez and dry Mediterranean climate provide the exceptional terroir for our olive trees to prosper and for Puranda - our premium, organic extra-virgin olive oil to develop its delicious flavours.

Location

Our 3 olive orchards with distinct topographic and soil characteristics are situated in Torbali, Turkey, a place with a long and fascinating history.

History

Known in ancient Greece under the name of Metropolis (also known als Tryanna or Tripolis) it was part of the Hellenistic kingdom of Pergamum and widely known for its wine and olive oil production in Asia Minor.

Even earlier, about 2500 years ago, modern day Torbali was known as "Puranda", a city in the kingdom of Arzawa with the capital Apasas (today's Ephesus) which is mentioned in several written texts by Hittite sources.

Our Origins

By naming our olive oil "Puranda" we wanted to express our interconnectedness with the place of our olive orchards and emphasize that we wanted to create an agricultural product of known provience - an olive oil we are proud of and whose origins we love to talk about. After all, delicious and premium olive oil is intrinsically tied to the location in which the olive trees grow - its soil, its weather conditions, its people, its history and its future.
